Message from the Head of Department

Welcome to the Department of Occupational Therapy at Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Health Sciences.

Occupational therapy is an evidence-based, person-centred health discipline that supports individuals' participation in meaningful activities of daily life. Working along the core axis of person, environment and occupation, occupational therapists carry out assessment and intervention processes with the aim of strengthening the independence, life roles and social participation of individuals of all ages. Supporting not only people living with illness or disability but anyone who wishes to improve their quality of life, occupational therapists are quickly becoming some of the most sought-after professionals in the healthcare system.

Established in 2020, our department is young and dynamic. This dynamism gives us the opportunity to think outside the box, adapt quickly to the needs of our time and grow together with our students. Our expert academic staff closely follow current national and international literature and continuously develop our curriculum. Thanks to an educational approach that combines theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, our students enter the field upon graduation equipped with both professional competence and a critical perspective.

Employment opportunities for occupational therapists are expanding every day, both in Türkiye and around the world. Public and private hospitals, physical therapy and rehabilitation centres, special education and rehabilitation institutions, guidance and research centres, psychiatric clinics, community mental health centres, elderly and palliative care facilities, home care services, schools, wellness centres and industrial workplaces are just some of the settings in which our graduates can work. Career development is possible in many subspecialties, particularly paediatric, neurological, orthopaedic, geriatric, oncological and psychiatric rehabilitation.
