Faculty of Law

Prof. Dr. Fulya İlçin GÖNENÇ
Message from the Dean
Law is not merely a body of rules that maintains social order; it is a universal value that safeguards human dignity, fundamental rights and freedoms, justice and the rule of law. As Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Law, we are building the journey we began in the 2020-2021 academic year on this understanding, and we regard scientific thought, academic freedom and professional ethics as inseparable elements of legal education. By combining our young and dynamic structure with the scholarly expertise and productivity of our strong academic staff, we have in a short time taken our place among the respected law faculties of our country. The strong performance of our graduates in examinations for the legal professions and their professional achievements are important outcomes of our educational approach. Yet for us, true success lies in our graduates distinguishing themselves throughout their careers as lawyers who are committed to the rule of law, uphold ethical values, possess a strong sense of justice and inspire public trust. The development of law cannot be separated from the social, scientific and technological transformations surrounding it. Protecting fundamental rights and freedoms, human dignity, justice and the rule of law in the face of technological developments is one of the core responsibilities not only of legal scholarship but also of legal education. At a time when legal systems, judicial processes and the legal professions are being reshaped, we established the Application and Research Center for Digital Transformation in Law and Legal Technologies (HUTEM) with the aim of being an academic institution that contributes to scientific developments concerning the future of law, rather than one that merely follows this transformation. As a pioneering academic body in the field of legal technologies in Türkiye, HUTEM aims to develop interdisciplinary research and new educational models in areas such as artificial intelligence, data protection, algorithmic decision-making, cybersecurity, legal data analytics and next-generation legal technologies. Our goal as Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Law is to educate leading lawyers who are committed to the rule of law, have embraced human rights and ethical values, understand technological transformation, can compete on a global scale and will shape the law of the future. I invite all students, academics and stakeholders who share this common vision to become part of our strong academic community. Prof. Dr. Fulya İlçin Gönenç Dean
