BASIC LAW AND COMMUNICATION LAW COURSES FOR FACULTIES OF COMMUNICATION

BASIC LAW AND COMMUNICATION LAW COURSES FOR FACULTIES OF COMMUNICATION

Prof. Dr. Ergin Ergül · Adalet Yayınevi ·2026

The book consists of two parts and is designed as the textbook for two separate courses.

The first part teaches the language of law: what a rule is, where it comes from, how it is read, where it applies, whose right it is and what happens when it is violated. Six chapters, six questions. This part is written for the course usually taught in the first year under the name Basic Law and requires no prior knowledge.

The second part builds the law of the profession on this language. Starting with freedom of expression and extending to the press and broadcasting regime, personality rights and the protection of personal data, intellectual property, commercial communication and advertising, the digital environment and professional responsibility, its seven chapters are intended for the Communication Law course taught in the third or fourth year.

The two parts can be read independently. A communication law student may open the book at Chapter Seven; the reminder at the beginning of that chapter brings together on a single page everything needed from the first part. Read together, however, the two parts form a coherent whole: every concept learned in the first part becomes a concrete professional problem in the second.
