Fertility Regulation
Fertility Regulation
Family planning services are critically important for protecting reproductive health and improving maternal, infant and public health. Family planning, which enables individuals to have the number of children they want and to decide on the timing of their pregnancies, is achieved through education, counseling and the use of contraceptive methods. Effectively delivered family planning services also help create a healthy, productive and happy society by reducing the adverse effects of unintended pregnancies and excessive fertility. Among health professionals, nurses and midwives in particular play important roles and bear significant responsibilities in this area.
This book was prepared because up-to-date resources on family planning are limited and there is a particular need for a book to guide family planning courses taught in the health sciences.
The book “Fertility Regulation” has been prepared for undergraduate and graduate nursing and midwifery students, as well as nurses, midwives and other health professionals working in this field. In line with current literature, the book aims to provide a detailed treatment of the fundamentals of family planning, contraceptive methods and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as contraceptive services for disadvantaged groups and groups with special needs. We extend our sincere thanks and respect to our authors, who worked with great dedication and care in preparing this book, for their valuable contributions.
